Free AI BaZi Prompt Template: Calculate First, Let AI Interpret
A copyable BaZi prompt for ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Claude and other general AI assistants. Calculate the pillars, hidden stems, Ten Gods and luck cycles first, then ask the AI only to interpret them.
Short answer
Don't give a general AI your birth date and ask it to draw the chart. Calculate the four pillars, hidden stems, Ten Gods and luck cycles with FateSign's free BaZi calculator, paste them into the template below, and tell the AI to interpret only, not recalculate. That uses what AI does well, explaining relationships in plain language, and avoids what it does badly: calendar and time arithmetic.
Connect the key ideas first
- Division of labour
- Charting is calculation, best left to a program that follows stated rules and can be checked. Interpretation is putting things into words, which AI can do.
- Why not let AI calculate
- General AI assistants often get time zones, daylight saving, True Solar Time and solar-term boundaries wrong, and the wrong answer still reads fluently. See this checklist for the details.
- Fixed facts
- The template marks the pillars, hidden stems, Ten Gods and luck cycles as inputs the AI may quote but not change.
- Traceable claims
- Asking for the pillar or Ten God behind every conclusion lets you check whether the AI is reading the chart or improvising.
A useful reading order
- Enter your birth date, time and birthplace in the BaZi calculator and check the time-correction steps and pillars on the result page.
- From the detailed chart, copy the four pillars with each pillar's Ten God and hidden stems. Then copy the luck cycles, their direction and the starting age.
- Fill these into the template below and write one specific question under “What I want to know”. You don't need your name, birth date or birthplace.
- Send the whole template to the AI. In the answer, first check that the stems, branches and Ten Gods it quotes match what you entered, then read the interpretation.
Copyable prompt template
Replace the brackets with your calculator results, delete any line you don't need, and paste the whole text into the AI.
You are an assistant who interprets BaZi (Four Pillars) charts in the Ziping tradition. The chart below was already calculated by a calendar program that handled the birthplace's time zone, daylight saving time, True Solar Time and solar-term boundaries. Interpret it only. Do not recalculate it. ## Rules 1. The four pillars, hidden stems, Ten Gods and luck cycles below are fixed facts. Do not recalculate them from a date and do not change any stem, branch or Ten God. 2. If you think something in the data is inconsistent, point to it and stop to ask me. Do not substitute your own values. 3. Give the basis for every conclusion: which pillar, which Ten God or which stem-branch relationship. 4. Keep three kinds of statements apart: chart facts, inferences from traditional rules, and uncertain judgments. 5. If you need a year's pillar that I have not given, ask me for it. Do not work it out yourself. 6. This is cultural reference material. Do not give medical, legal or financial advice, and do not make absolute predictions. ## Chart data - Chart: (male or female chart) - Day Master: (day stem and its phase) - Year pillar: (stem-branch) | Ten God: (Ten God) | Hidden stems: (stem Ten God, stem Ten God, …) - Month pillar: (stem-branch) | Ten God: (Ten God) | Hidden stems: (stem Ten God, stem Ten God, …) - Day pillar: (stem-branch) | Day Master | Hidden stems: (stem Ten God, stem Ten God, …) - Hour pillar: (stem-branch) | Ten God: (Ten God) | Hidden stems: (stem Ten God, stem Ten God, …) - Luck cycles (forward or backward, starting age, East Asian age): - (stem-branch) (Ten God) | (years) | (ages) - … - Years (optional): (each year you want to discuss, with its pillar) ## What I want to know (one specific question, for example your overall chart structure, career direction, or a review of past luck cycles) ## Output format 1. Natal structure: Day Master, month branch and Five Phases strength 2. Ten Gods and chart pattern 3. Luck cycles, one paragraph each 4. Answer to my question 5. Uncertainties
Filled example: the benchmark's baseline chart
This example uses the baseline case from our BaZi calculation benchmark: a man born in Shanghai, China on 2000-03-15 at 12:00, charted at 11:56 after the True Solar Time correction. The pillars, hidden stems, Ten Gods and luck cycles are exactly what the FateSign calculator API returns, and you can open the same chart from the benchmark page.

Why this matters to you
The template works because of the division of labour, not the wording. A checkable program does the calculation and the AI only explains a structure that is already known. Switch assistants or start a new chat and the chart stays the same; only the explanation changes, and explanations can be compared and questioned.
Common mistakes
- Giving the AI only a birth date and letting it calculate the chart on the side.
- Pasting the pillars without saying “do not recalculate”, so the AI still changes stems or branches.
- Letting the AI work out a year's pillar you didn't give it. BaZi years begin at Li Chun in early February, not on 1 January.
- Treating the answer as settled instead of asking for its basis.
Important limitation
The template only makes sure the AI interprets the right chart. It cannot make the interpretation accurate or suited to your situation. BaZi is cultural reference, not medical, legal or financial advice; for health, legal, investment or other major decisions, consult a qualified professional.
Common questions
Which AI assistants does this template work with?
Any general chat assistant, including ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Claude and Gemini. It relies on no special feature. What matters is handing over a calculated chart as fixed facts and asking only for interpretation.
Can I just give the AI my birth date and let it calculate the chart?
It's not a good idea. General AI assistants often get time zones, daylight saving, True Solar Time and solar-term boundaries wrong, and they rarely say so. Calculating the pillars first and giving the AI the result is safer.
How do I ask about past or future years?
Select the luck cycle in the calculator result, copy the pillars of the years you want, and add them on the “Years” line of the template. Don't let the AI work out year pillars itself; BaZi years change at Li Chun, not on 1 January.
Is it safe to send my chart to an AI?
The template needs only stems, branches, Ten Gods and luck cycles, not your name, birth date or birthplace, so you share less personal information. Check each AI service's privacy policy for how it stores conversations.
